During the weekend, I went to 1U to get some Christmas presents for my sisters cos they had this sudden urge to put up a Christmas tree and exchange Christmas gifts. I walked past Esprit and saw a pair of pants on the mannequin that I liked. I went in to just give it a try without looking at the price tag. As fate would have it, none of the available sizes fitted me well so I ditched the pants. The price? A whopping RM240!! For a simple pair of black pants. Not meant to be.
That isn't what this post is about. Its actually about a boy and his mom. Tell me cos I am a new parent and all so I don't know what the “standard procedure” is. Out in the middle of the clothing section, this Mother had clothes thrown all over on the floor around her as she knelt down and was frantically trying clothes on her son. My guess is that her son is about 7 or 8. At one point, she even stripped her son bare naked right in full view of everyone and I mean EVERYONE that was in the store. Is that even necessary or allowed? I mean, first of all, the sales people didn't do anything cos I felt hygiene was definitely in question.
Ok, like I said, I don't know what it takes when trying on clothes for kids. Maybe its ALRIGHT to try them without their underwear on. So, if you gotta strip, you gotta strip but do you have to do it out in front of everyone? I believe the changing rooms are there for a reason, don't you think? Needless to say, everyone was looking at them like they were some kind of freak show or something. I pity the boy, I really do. Common sense tells me that something is not right. SO, all you parents out there, tell me, am I right in feeling disgusted? Would you have said or done something if it is in fact disgusting? I know its too late now but you know, if there is “one” of them, there are plenty more out there just waiting for me to discover.

And what did u say about me posting too many post in a day? :P
I will never strip my kids naked in public. Just use the changing room lar... correct or not?
Another thing is peeing in public. If really, really an urgent/emergency pee and a toilet is no where near then really no choice, longkang. But if a toilet is a minute or two away, I will bring my kids there. But now my kids too old to be peeing in public.
My opinion is that is definitely not appropriate. Trying on a coat or a pair of shoes is one thing, but anything that requires removal of other clothes should be done in a dressing room.
That's crazy. I don't think she should have done any of it - especially out in the middle of the store - a sales person should have made them move to a dressing room. See you later. Kellan
As a mom, I would never do this. I mean, I even take my daughter into a bathroom stall to change her pull ups so that the whole world doesn't see her naked behind, and she's 2. If he's 7 or 8, he is old enough to understand you should not be naked in public. And they should have been asked to change in a room.
That's horrible. The boy must be terrified.
adoi. totally unacceptable la. no underwear somemore. uncivilised mother. ::speechless::
funny you had this post. i just saw a mom dressing her 3 yr old in public too except that it wasn't so messy as the one you saw. and also there were not many people around.
no, i will not do it like the mom you saw but now thinking back, i've changed rye li's diapers in public before wor! yikes!
The poor boy! At that age, he should already be wearing underwear. I really hate it when I see something like that - many parents think that just because their kids are little, they don't have any dignity/modesty. They have that "It's my kid, I'll do what I want to" attitude, you know?
